Trim opting to play with the strong breeze and hoping to follow along with the promising Senior win on Sunday.

The visitors the first to convert on the scoreboard soon after the throw in setting the tone for the game to follow but Deccy Dowling quick to reply with Trims first to even out the scoreboard. After some strong defensive work from Mark Murray and Patrick Quigly the ball lands to Davy Murtagh who finds himself in the open space to take his first.   Trim falling behind know they need to get the scores on the board with this breeze and a big ball in from Patrick Quigley starts the commotion, the O’Mahony’s defender slow to react on the 14 yard line sees Sweeny slip in and finish for a much needed Trim goal. With the wind on their backs Trim are still falling behind the experienced Navan team and scoring chances are far and few with the visitors in control of this first half making no mistake with their shot taking.   Kyle Ennis steps up after some great team play to put up the first orange flag of the day and on the brink of the half Ian Byrne slyly slips in through the visiting defence to claim a second goal in the town end goals as the whistle blows to lower the deficit to a point.

HT Áth Troim  2-05  Navan O’Mahonys 0-12

Trim coming out with a bit more hunger in this half attacking straight from the throw in and claiming the first two scores against the breeze. Another super team effort including Patrick Quigley, Cathal O’Reilly and finally David Murtagh for a smartly tapped goal to get Trim ahead for the first time this game. The team plays coming together nicely this half with more aggression from the young Trim side to defend their home goals sees Navan’s scoring completely quietened.   Our more experienced full back line took over the show this half attacking from the back with strong runs cutting straight through the Navan mid field but O’Mahonys blanket defence did their job and stopped many promising attacks.  Some softly conceded frees let’s Navan up the pitch as they raise the orange flag twice in concession with no reply.  This was all they needed to find their feet again and their strength in the mid field helps them win the game out. The young Trim side will take more learnings from this game as they hope to build upwards in this Junior Championship as they regather themselves and go again in 2 weeks time
